Chilled to slow bacterial growth and loud with atmospheric scrubbers. The researchers were shot at their benches and in the corridors as they ran, and whoever did it was there for the paper.
One cubicle was missed entirely, its printer still running: the experimental cellular regeneration serum came out of it, work on borrowing regrowth from species that already had it.
The vault at the back had been reinforced and then cut into from the side. Shelf on shelf of small holders, emptied, and something torched out of the floor in the middle of the room where it had been bolted down.
