The Menders' Union

Independent humanitarian organization

// Where You Stand

No standing recordedthe crew, as a whole

// On Record

Leader

Chair Brigid Osei

Structure

Bureaucratic but functional. Regional chapters report to a central council. Osei chairs the council but cannot override chapter decisions on the ground. Staffed largely by volunteers supplemented by paid specialists.

Goals

Provide medical care, food, and disaster relief without regard to faction affiliation. Maintain protected corridors and relief stations at key transit points. Keep the vulnerable alive long enough for the shooting to stop.

Philosophy

Suffering does not ask permission. They go where they are needed, not where they are welcome. Osei's personal motto: 'Carry more than you need and give away the rest.'

Limits

Will not carry weapons or intelligence for any faction. Will not accept funding with conditions attached. Have turned down emergency funding from Iron Shore twice because the strings were too visible. They are chronically broke and fiercely independent.

Rivals

  • Factions that use humanitarian corridors for military movement
  • The Syndicate of Kethhijacks relief shipments
  • Politicians who want to use them for propaganda.

// "The Lamp"

- a deliberately unofficial cell within the Union that answers to nobody on the central council except Chair Brigid Osei herself.

Goals

Locate synthetics facing decommission, registry seizure, or "voluntary" surrender to corporate custody, and move them to Free Holds territory or deeper frontier space where the Census Bureau has no reach.

Limits

Won't forge papers for a synthetic that's caused deliberate harm to a person. Won't move anyone who hasn't asked to go -- Osei is adamant that rescue without consent is just a different kind of seizure.
